The camera shows a stars and stripes flag flowing in the wind in a dark blue sky. The camera pans down to show a building beneath it. A s ing in front of tthat building says "Military Research Coordination Center". Up to this point you hear a natuarl ambient sound. Major Henderson starts to speak:
Major Henderson: | Good morning, Luitenant! We have some bad news for you. |
As Henderson continues to speak the camera fades to a view of a conference room. There is a General sitting at the head of the table and Henderson is sitting on his right side. Right across the table Mrs. Moore has taken her seat. There is a fourth person sitting on the table the camera never shows. Henderson talks to that person.
Major Henderson: | According to your file you are quite familiar with the Q.U.A.R.K. project. You also know about the underground labratories that belong to that project. These have conducted quite effective research up to now. The bad news now is that we have lost all contact with that site a few hours ago. Additionally a reconnaisance satellite that passed over that area at about 8 o'clock this morning recorded these pictures. |
The camera changes view in a hard cut and a screen is visible on that end of the room the General is facing. This screen shows a projected image of the Q.U.A.R.K. labs which has been taken from a great height and not a high angle. Just behind the site's entrance a strange broad flash reaches up into the sky and ends in mid-air.
Major Henderson: | The lab facility is clearly visible in this image. The interesting thing here is the flash that obviously comes out of it. This flash must have lasted for quite some time and almost certainly it released a high amount of energy. |
You hear a clicking sound from a dia projector as the image is replaced by a similar one on which the flash has grown noticeably bigger.
Major Henderson: | The size of the flash suggests that some experiment that has been conducted down there has gone badly wrong. It also suggests that the facility has been heavily damaged. |
Dias shift again and instead of the flash you see a hole in the ground where the flash has been. The angle at which this picture has been taken has shifted a little bit as the satellite has moved on during this incident.
Major Henderson: | From these pictures we are unable to tell how much damage has been done to the Q.U.A.R.K. labs. It is however clear that the people that survived in there must be helped. |
The camera switches back to the conference table.
Major Henderson: | (speaking to the invisible person on the table) This will be the mission of your team: Get the in there as fast as you can and get everyone out that is still alive. If you notice anything out of the ordinary let me know about it, even if you have just a bad feeling about something. Understood? (small pause) Good. Leave as soon as you can and don't waste any time. |
The whole lab has been seriously damaged. Only a few dead bodies lie around. The lab assistants have been hit worst as their bodies have been torn to pieces that are spread all over the room. However, there is no trace of Dr. Smith. In the upper levels there are a handful panicked survivors which have to be guarded into the open. Where Dr. Smith's experiment has been the time portal now hovers in the air in the form of that flash.
Important Events:
Event #1: | On starting on this map Major Henderson talks over the radio to the team: "The pictures from your video cameras are transmitted in a high quality. We will survey your progress here. Stand by for further instructions. |
Event #2: | When the first team member has his/her first look at the time portal he/she says: "Holy shit! What's that?" Major Henderson comes on the radio again: "Christ! I haven't seen anything like that yet. Evacuate the complex as fast as you can and then return immediately." |
Event #3: | The mission ends when everybody has been rescued. |
