A subtitle fades in on the otherwise black screen:
TIME: 06/29/2017 7:53 ZULU
LOCATION: Somewhere in Arizona
The lab site entrance located in the desert and lit by the morning sun fades in (see drawing #1 for details of the entrance)
The camera follows Dr. Smith, a bearded, grey-haired scientist waring casual clothes (see drawing #2 for details of his face), as he drives through the guarded gate and down a ramp into the site's parking lot, which is still almost empty. On the far end is a sign stating:
Quantum theory based | ||

As the car is parked the camera pans in such a way that this sign is clearly visible behind Dr. Smith's car (no zooming, though).
Dr. Smith descends from an elevator on his lab's floor and immediately faces a secure door which he opens by looking into a nearby iris scanner and saying his ID:
Dr. Smith: | Dr. John Smith, Age 59, Quantum physics department |
The red light under the scanner goes off and and the green one lights up as soon as Dr. Smith has finished saying his passphrase loudly and clearly.
Dr. Smith: | Hello, everybody |
casual clothes: | Morning, John! |
lab coat: | Morning. Seems like we are pretty much alone in here, ey? |
Dr. Smith: | Yeah, but this is pretty normal for holiday time in here. Anything else I should know? |
casual clothes: | Bea got the magnetic lenses calibration finished. |
Dr. Smith: | pulling one eyebrow up: Ah? |
casual clothes: | Yeah, the lenses work within the required tolerance again |
Dr. Smith: | So we are ready for another test run. Status? |
lab coat (Bea): | The amplifiers are on working temperature ... the generator room signals readiness for full power output and the cryo chamber is cooled down. |
Dr. Smith: | So what are we waiting for? Let's start! (he walks over to the windows to the experiment room and watches the experiment from there) |
Bea: | OK, the computers are in charge now |
The experiment - on the other side of the room is a window into the control room - comes to life. Several continous beams are sent into a block of frozen oxygen inside the cryo chamber, which is in the center of the experiment layout. As soon as the last beam is calibrated to meet with the others inside the crystalic block tiny flashes become visible within the oxygen block. After a moment you can hear the persons talking in the control room.
casual clothes: | Nothing out of the ordinary. No specific response yet. |
Dr. Smith: | Just like every other try we made up to now! (bows his head down) |
The camera looks over Bea's shoulder into her computer screen where some of the measured values are displayed in real time. Suddenly some of these values change and warning messages appear on the screen.
Bea: | Wait a sec! There's something wrong! |
The camera shows Dr. Smith's wide-eyed face as he stares into the experiment room. The eyes reflect the experiment itself.
Dr. Smith: | What the fuck... |
Just as he is about to speak the last word there is a flash emitted from the cryo chamber that floods the entire lab with white light.
